USEFUL NOTES FOR:

Discuss your career goals or post-graduation goals

Introduction

A lot of people don’t think about their career path until they get to college or after they graduate. That’s why it’s important to ask your friends and family what they’re interested in doing, so you can have a better idea of where your interests lie and what type of job might be right for them. It also helps if you know what kinds of jobs are available down the road—that way, when it comes time for career advancement or even switching careers entirely, there will be less uncertainty involved! Here are four questions that might help open up this conversation:

Why did you choose the path you chose?

You may have already decided on a career path, or maybe you’re still trying to decide which direction to go in. Either way, it’s important to think about how your choice of career will affect you and what aspects of your life will be affected by it. What’s the most satisfying part of your job or career field? What’s the least satisfying part of it? How long have you known that this was something that interested you?

What is the most satisfying part of your job or career field?

The most satisfying part of your job or career field is the feeling that you are doing something meaningful and making a difference.

What makes it satisfying?

How do you get satisfaction? How do others feel about what they’re doing as well? What makes this worthwhile in the first place?

What is the least satisfying part of your job or career field?

There are many aspects of your job or career field that can be stressful. For example, you might have to handle the pressure of expectations from others in your company or school. You may also need to deal with stress related to deadlines and other tasks that need to be completed on time.

You should know what is considered “good” stress management before making decisions about whether or not this is something you want in your life moving forward. If it’s something that’s causing problems for you at work then it could hurt both financially and personally (and these things happen more often than we think).

How long have you known that you wanted to pursue this path?

How long have you known that you wanted to pursue this path?

I’ve been doing it for about five years now. When I first started out, my career goals were to become a writer and freelance journalist. Then after graduating from college with a degree in English literature, I got my first job as an editor at an architecture magazine where we wrote about buildings that were being built around the world. After about two years there I decided to move back home because my parents had just bought a house in New York City and needed help keeping it up-to-date so they could sell it when they got ready to retire someday (which hasn’t happened yet). So instead of moving back into their house right away though what would happen is stay there until they sold their place then move into somewhere else while still paying rent… which turned out not happening at all because everyone always needs more space than their current situation allows them! So now instead of getting paid by working overtime every day like most people do during this time period – even though everyone keeps saying what should happen but nothing ever seems possible – instead I’m trying hard not only finding ways around those challenges but also making sure everyone else knows how hard things really are going on behind closed doors when nobody else cares enough about these kinds

If you could make changes to your career path, what would they be?

If you could make changes to your career path, what would they be?

What do you wish you had done differently?

What do you wish you had done more of?

What do you wish you had done less of?

Are you in a position now to make those changes happen?

Are you in a position now to make those changes happen?

For example, if you are currently a student and want to go into the medical field, then yes. You can work hard and make sure that your grades are good enough so that when it comes time for college or grad school applications, they will be competitive. If this is not possible right now because of finances as an undergraduate student (or even as a graduate), then consider working part-time while studying at a local college or university. There are many different options available right now—not just going straight into full-time employment after graduation from school!

Do you think having an advanced degree or certification is necessary for success in your field?

Do you think having an advanced degree or certification is necessary for success in your field?

If so, why?

What kind of jobs do people with advanced degrees typically get when they graduate with that degree? How much more money do they make than those without them?

Ask about their career and how it relates to yours.

Ask about their career and how it relates to yours. Ask about the skills they have that you want to develop, the skills they have that you already have, and the skills they have that you don’t have.

Conclusion

I know you probably have a million questions. It’s natural to want to know what it’s like to be in their shoes and what they wish they had known before getting started on their career path. But remember, this is not about getting an answer; it’s about learning from each other! So if there are any questions we haven’t answered yet, feel free to ask them up front.
