Assessment Description

Each year, ELL/bilingual students are assessed with state-mandated standardized assessments. These annual assessments can include an annual ELP assessment to measure English language development, including academic English. Other assessments may include norm-referenced assessments measuring content knowledge in areas such as reading and math.

ELL/bilingual specialists are often called on to be test administrators and possess knowledge of which students can be exempt from certain assessments and who can receive specific accommodations.

Create a 10-12 slide digital presentation for your colleagues that describes various state assessments for ELL/bilingual learners and how these assessments are utilized. Include the following in your presentation:

· The full requirements for identification, placement, and reclassification of ELLs from language support programs in your state. Note : Do not use the flowchart from the Topic 2 assignment. Instead, provide more in-depth information on identification and reclassification for educators and be sure to include reclassification requirements.

· Detailed information on the ELP assessment (e.g., ACCESS, AZELLA, ELPA) administered annually in your state, including when it is administered, the accommodations that can be provided, and who can receive the accommodations.

· Description of a state-mandated standardized, norm-referenced test that all students (ELLs and non-ELLs) are required to take, including the purpose of the assessment and state-approved administrative considerations, accessibility features, and accommodations appropriate for ELLs.

Support your presentation with 3-5 scholarly resources.

Presenter’s notes are required for each content slide. Presentation must include a title slide at the beginning, and a reference slide with documentation of resources at the end. The title slide and reference slide are not included in the total number of slides.

Include graphics that are relevant to the content, visually appealing, and use space appropriately.

While APA Style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
