1. Huber, M., Knottnerus, J. A., Green, L., Van Der Horst, H., Jadad, A. R., Kromhout, D.,
… & Smid, H. (2011). How should we define health?. Bmj, 343.
The article "How Should We Define Health?" by Huber et al. (2011) discusses the
criteria for defining health. The authors present a systematic review of the
literature to analyze what constitutes health from an individual perspective.
The research methodology employed for the article was a systematic review of the
literature. This method allowed the authors to search for relevant studies which
had previously investigated the topic in order to gain an understanding of the
current state of knowledge (Huber et al., 2011). They evaluated the literature
from multiple perspectives, including philosophy, medicine, psychiatry,
psychology, and sociology.
The main findings of the article, based on the evidence provided, were that all
four categories of health must be taken into consideration when looking at an
individual's overall wellbeing (Huber et al., 2011). Physical health includes
biological systems and indicators such as blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and
body mass index. Mental health includes psychological aspects such as one's
mood, thoughts, and behavior.
This article is pertinent to the research regarding visitors to Wilbur Tampa Park
and what health means to them. It offers insight into the various aspects of health,
from physical to spiritual, and emphasizes the importance of looking at the
individual holistically (Huber et al., 2011). This information can help inform
further research as to how visitors to Wilbur Tampa Park experience different
aspects of health.
2. Kingma, E. (2007). What is it to be healthy?. Analysis, 67(2), 128-133.
The article written by Kingma (2007) titled “What is it to be healthy?” seeks to
answer the question of what health actually means in a philosophical context. The
author explores the concept of health from multiple perspectives, such as moral
philosophy, utilitarianism, and wellbeing (Kingma, 2007). The aim of the study is
to provide a comprehensive and philosophical view of health, looking both at how
it can be approached and how it interacts with individuals in society.
To answer the stated question, the author utilizes multiple methods, including
qualitative research and theoretical analysis (Kingma, 2007). Qualitative data is
collected through interviews with experts on the topic of health and textual
sources that explore the various theories of health and their implications on
individuals.

3. Peerson, A., & Saunders, M. (2009). Health literacy revisited: what do we mean and why
does it matter?. Health promotion international, 24(3), 285-296.
The aim of the study is
to provide a comprehensive and philosophical view of health, looking both at how
it can be approached and how it interacts with individuals in society.

qualitative research and theoretical analysis (Kingma, 2007). Qualitative data is
collected through interviews with experts on the topic of health and textual
sources that explore the various theories of health and their implications on
individuals. Theoretical analysis is also conducted in order to better understand
the concept of health and the ways in which it can be applied to individual lives.
The main findings from the article are that health is best understood as something
that encompasses many different aspects, from physical, mental, and emotional, to
a greater sense of wellbeing (Kingma, 2007). Health is something that is not as
easily definable as some may believe, but it can be thought of as a combination of
subjective and objective factors that influence an individual's overall wellbeing
This article is highly relevant to the research into what health means for visitors to
Wilbur Tampa Park, as it provides an in-depth exploration of the concept of
health from a philosophical standpoint (Kingma, 2007). By exploring the different
theoretical approaches to health, the study provides an understanding of the
significance of health in an individual's life.
4. Patel, V. (2014). Why mental health matters to global health. Transcultural
psychiatry, 51(6), 777-789.
The topic of this article is mental health and its importance in global health, and it
examines the efficacy and effectiveness of mental health interventions. The author
combines a systematic review, meta-analysis, narrative review, and evaluative
review to analyze the data (Patel, 2014). The aim is to demonstrate the relevance
of mental health interventions in terms of their impact on physical health
outcomes, self-esteem, and other aspects of mental health.
In this article, the author uses a qualitative approach by first presenting the
findings of a systematic review and meta-analysis and then combining that with a
narrative and evaluative review (Patel, 2014). The systematic review reviewed
data from randomized controlled trials looking at the efficacy and effectiveness of
various mental health interventions. The meta-analysis was based on the results of
the systematic review and provided an overall conclusion about the data.
The main findings of this article are that mental health has an important role to
play in global health and is associated with better physical health outcomes.
Mental health interventions have been shown to be effective in improving health
outcomes and can reduce the burden of illness and disability (Patel, 2014). Mental
health interventions have been found to have a significant impact on wellbeing,
self-esteem, and other aspects of mental health.
The relevance of this article to the research on visitors to Wilbur Tampa Park is
that it provides an understanding of the importance of mental health as well as
evidence for the effectiveness of mental health interventions. Given that visitors
to Wilbur Tampa Park may be faced with a variety of stressors and physical
health concerns, it is important to recognize the potential impact of mental health
on physical health outcomes (Patel, 2014).
5. Argyle, M. (1997). Is happiness a cause of health?. Psychology and Health, 12(6), 769-
781.
The article “Is Happiness a Cause of Health?” by Michael Argyle (1997) aims to
explore the concept of happiness and its potential role as a cause of health. A
variety of tests were performed to measure the relationship between happiness
and physical health, with results indicating that those who scored higher on the
happiness scale reported fewer physical health problems and higher levels of life
satisfaction. This suggests that happiness may be linked to better overall physical
health.
To answer the article’s question, the study conducted a variety of tests to measure
the relationship between happiness and physical health (Argyle, 1997). These
tests included psychological measurements from scales and surveys such as the
Oxford Happiness Questionnaire, the Multidimensional Personality
Questionnaire, and survey items that measured physical health status, mood, life
satisfaction, and social functioning.
The main findings of the study are that happiness does indeed have a positive
correlation with overall physical health status. Results indicated that happy people
reported fewer physical health problems, more optimism, and higher life
satisfaction levels (Argyle, 1997). Additionally, those who scored highest on the
happiness scale had better moods and were more likely to engage in social
activities, which were linked to improved physical health.
This article is relevant to the research question “What does health mean for
visitors to Wilbur Tampa Park at Wilbur Tampa Park?” since it suggests that
happiness can be an important factor in improving physical health (Argyle, 1997).
Thus, it may be beneficial for visitors to Wilbur Tampa Park to actively seek out
activities that will bring them happiness. This could include participating in
outdoor activities, spending time with family or friends, and engaging in some
form of relaxation techniques, such as yoga and mindfulness (Argyle, 1997). By
doing so, visitors may be able to improve their physical health, as well as their
emotional and mental wellbeing.
6. Warburton, D. E., & Bredin, S. S. (2016). Reflections on physical activity and health:
what should we recommend?. Canadian Journal of Cardiology, 32(4), 495-504.
The article “Reflections on Physical Activity and Health: What Should We
Recommend?” by Darren E. Warburton and Shannon S. Bredin explores the
current physical activity guidelines, discusses their shortcomings, and makes
recommendations based on how physical activity might improve public health.
The article discusses physical activity as it relates to public health and looks at
existing physical activity guidelines at the time of publication (Warburton &
Bredin, 2016).
This article employed a qualitative approach to review current physical activity
guidelines and make recommendations for effective physical activity
interventions to improve public health. The authors conducted a comprehensive
literature review of relevant articles published between 2000-2015 and then
sought expert opinions from clinicians, researchers, and policymakers to arrive at
their conclusions (Warburton & Bredin, 2016).
The main finding of the article is that physical activity is beneficial for improving
public health, but current physical activity guidelines are inadequate in that they
do not take into account the unequal access to opportunities for physical activity
for diverse populations (Warburton & Bredin, 2016). The article points out that
physical activity guidelines must be tailored to take into account these disparities
in order to allow for equitable benefits.
The article is relevant to the research question of “What Does Health Mean for
Visitors to Wilbur Tampa Park?” as it offers recommendations on how physical
activity interventions can be used to improve public health. Since Wilbur Tampa
Park is a public space, its visitors could potentially benefit from physically
activity-based interventions tailored to meet the needs of diverse populations
(Warburton & Bredin, 2016). This article provides evidence-based support for
such interventions, which could be used as an impetus for implementing programs
aimed at improving physical health among visitors to Wilbur Tampa Park.
7. Rasciute, S., & Downward, P. (2010). Health or happiness? What is the impact of
physical activity on the individual?. Kyklos, 63(2), 256-270.
The paper titled “Health or Happiness? What is the impact of physical activity on
the individual?” by Rasciute and Downward (2010) deals with analyzing the
effects of physical activity on an individual’s wellbeing. The topic is important in
the context of Wilbur Tampa Park, as visitors are likely to be participating in a
variety of physical activities.
The authors used quantitative and qualitative methods for their study and further
divided the data into two sets – one based on reported physical activity and
another based on expected physical activity. To measure expected physical
activity, the authors asked participants to rate the importance of being physically
active and then asked them to respond to six multiple-choice questions about their
expected physical activity in the coming week (Rasciute & Downward, 2010). For
reporting physical activity, the participants were asked to report their physical
activities over the past seven days.
The main findings of the study were that physical activity has a positive effect on
one's health and well-beingwellbeing. According to the results, those who had a
higher level of physical activity reported better psychological and emotional states
than those who had lower levels of physical activity (Rasciute & Downward,
2010). Additionally, those participants who had a higher level of physical activity
also reported better life satisfaction, overall health, and optimism.
This study is highly relevant to the research on the meaning of health among
visitors to Wilbur Tampa Park. It provides insights into how physical activity
affects one’s mental and physical health, which can be used to provide better
services to park-goers (Rasciute & Downward, 2010).

March 5, 2023 Wilbur Tampa Park 55 F Cloudy 3-6 pm (3 hours) |
(I arrived at Wilbur Tampa Park at 2:45 pm. I started looking for a good site to observe and take notes. The park has fewer people than usual, but they are scattered all over the park. I decided to start taking notes at 3 pm in order to find a good site for the next 15 minutes. I found two great spots in the park. The first I will call Site A and the second I will call Site B. Site A is on the northeast side of the park and from there I can observe the people on the two basketball courts and the playground. Site B is in the middle of the park and I can see the people walking in the long square path that takes you around the park. I brought a chair with me to sit in anywhere in the park.) |

Group Physical Activity Enjoyment Group Physical Activity Enjoyment |
(As I settled into Site A), I observed that there was a group of 4 people playing basketball with each other. They enjoy their time a lot and play on one side of the field and each one throws the ball in turn and whoever scores a goal first wins or earns points. The players are having a great time, laughing loudly, and making fun of each other. There are also three other people in one group in the adjacent basketball court, and they are playing a game different from the previous game. The player in possession of the ball tries to dodge the others, and then hits the ball towards the net. They seem more relaxed than the previous group, but they are having a good time |
Direction Group Enjoyment |
In the northeast of the park, there is a playground in which there are about three children, a brother and a sister, and another child who is older than them by about three years (I think the brother and sister are between the ages of 4-6, and the brother appears to be older than the sister.) The three children are sledding in the slide and having fun playing with the games in the playground and laughing. (I don’t think think the brother and sister knew the other child, they seem to have befriended each other at the park.) |

There is a man on the lawn south of the two basketball courts sitting on a chair. He is eating a burger while reading a book. There is a family in the south of the grassy area near the man who is reading about 50 feet away. They have prepared a small feast, this family consists of four members, father, mother, brother and sister, who eat sandwiches and drink juices. (Looks like the family will head to the playground after they finish eating.) |

(At 4:30 Pm), The two groups who were on the basketball court met and Become 7 players playing a match in a full court 4 versus 3. The atmosphere between them was exiting and more competitive than before.(At this point the park reached its peak for today and the amount of visitors are increasing.) The number of children in the playground increased to 8 children, playing and trying all the games available in the playground. |
Group Physical Activity, Enjoyment |
(I finished my observation at Site A and now I am heading to Site B.) (While I was walking toward Site B) I saw two boys who seemed to be playing soccer, one of them climbed a tree and the other was waiting for him under the tree, ( they were trying to bring a ball down that got stuck in the tree.) The boy who climbed the tree couldn't reach the ball, so the other boy told him to hold on tight because he would shake the tree. The boy started to shake the tree, but the ball was steady, so the boy on top of the tree thought of breaking a stick and hitting the ball with it, so he did that and dropped the ball. Then they played soccer on the lawn, The boys were exited and happy. |

(As I settled into Site B) I observed a teenager (appears to be 15 years old) at a distance of about 65 feet from me came and started flying the drone. He was flying it so high that I no longer saw the drone (and he was apparently taking pictures and videos of the park.) On the path I also saw two old people walking with their crutches. The park in the middle is full of trees, their height ranges from 13-30 feet, some of them are not covered with paper and others are full of paper. |
