Choose any one of the topics:
1. an economic system
2. a political system
3. a family/kindship system
4. a religion
5. a moral code
6. an artistic/literary tradition
7. a transportation system
8. a communications system
Once you have selected a research essay topic, you should submit an esssay outline. It will be worth 10% of your total grade. Please limit it to about 500words (min. 250., max. 750).
How you go about it is up to you, depending on the approach you wish to take. It should, however, include some information on:
why you chose the topic (why is it “relevant” or “important”;
what you want to learn about the topic (perhaps in the form of a research “question”);
what sources/resources you plan to consult;
how you intend to organize your paper;
what do you expect to find as a result of your exploration.
The purpose is mainly to get you thinking logically and methodically about your paper and to get you started on your journey.
