1. How do your core beliefs, values, and strengths align with (or not) your responses to the seven prompts.

The core beliefs, values, and strengths listed align with the seven prompts. A good organization needs competent management aligns with the core belief that I have high expectations of others and preparation leads to success. A leader always stays calm under pressure aligns with the core strength of a calm demeanor. Stepping forward to volunteer for projects aligns with the core beliefs of hard work pays off and preparation leads to success, and the core strength of a strong work ethic. Making sure that work is professional and accurate aligns with all three of my core beliefs and the core values of commitment and competency. My reaction to conflict aligns with the core strength of a calm demeanor, and the management skills listed are reflected in my core beliefs, values, and strengths.

A few prompts do not align with the core beliefs, values, and strengths. An organization needs a visionary leader and the desire to learn from those who went before me. These are both more aligned with Pioneering Leaders and Inclusive or Affirming Leaders, respectively.

2. How do your core beliefs, values, and strengths align with a career in the public or nonprofit sector?

All three of the core belief would serve a nonprofit leader well. When dealing with the staff, the leader must be able to plan and execute for success, hold everyone accountable, and believe in hard work. The core values of commitment, competency, and honesty would serve the nonprofit's needs. Commitment to the mission and a competent drive to fulfill the mission with honesty and integrity would benefit a nonprofit. The core strength of a strong work ethic should be contagious among the staff. Seeing the leader perform the same tasks that they are performing builds morale. Dedication to the organization and the mission will help to avoid mission drift. A calm demeanor during a crisis or conflict will help to ensure that the parties involved are heard, and a solution is found.

My core value of teamwork and my core strength of collaboration align with a career in the public or nonprofit sector because both of these values are needed in a nonprofit organization to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. Nonprofits collaborate and partner with others to help expand the scope of their mission.
