Choose an age group Kindergarten and plan two creative experiences inspired by the picture book How to Catch a Star.
You must plan one experience in the visual arts and the other experience in either music and movement or drama and storytelling. · For each planned experience, choose a different play centre (e.g., dramatic play centre, arts centre, block centre, outdoor area, sensory centre) · In each of the activities, explain how children would explore one or more of the concepts in the book that you identified in your concept web. (2% per experience) 2 · Describe the materials, arrangement, educator’s verbal and behavioural strategies, and how you would incorporate the picture book. (2% per experience) · What do you expect the children will do during the experience? How will they play? (1% per experience) · Include one individual, and one small-group or large-group learning experience, for a total of two curriculum activities ·
Deliverables:
1. A written summary including: a) The title of the picture book and the author and illustrator b) A short summary of the book c) A short description of the illustrations d) A short biography of the illustrator. Write this as if you were telling it to a group of young children. (You must cite all sources in the text and provide a reference page) e) Your chosen age group f) Your concept map g) Your curriculum plans h) A brief description and justification of how your two arts experiences are related to the picture book and are age-appropriate creative expressions. You may use Growing Artists (Kostner, 2015) and other sources.
