USEFUL NOTES FOR:
Relationship Building – Collaboration, (Self and Social Awareness)In Week 4, you created your Group Project Plan and began working on your common group goal. This week, you’ll analyze and reflect on the collaborative process.Criteria for Success:
Introduction
This week, you’ll analyze and reflect on the collaborative process. Your project will be evaluated based on your ability to demonstrate:
Consider the members of your group
Consider the members of your group. How did they work together to achieve their common goal?
What role did each member play in achieving their individual goals and contributing to the group’s progress?
How did each person’s strengths contribute to the overall success of your project?
Examine the strengths of each member and analyze how those strengths have contributed to your group’s progress.
In Week 4, you created your Group Project Plan and began working on your common group goal. This week, you’ll analyze and reflect on the collaborative process.
In order to complete this assignment successfully, it is important that you consider the strengths of each member in order to determine how those strengths have contributed to your group’s progress. As an example: what are the strengths of each member? How have they contributed toward achieving their own personal goals as well as those of the whole group?
Describe the ways in which you have been able to apply different skill sets to support each other in achieving your goal.
Describe the ways in which you have been able to apply different skill sets to support each other in achieving your goal.
As I have mentioned, we have been working on this project for a long time. To make things more difficult, we had to work together as a group and complete our tasks together. This made it hard for me because I was trying my best not only to complete my own assignment but also help others with theirs as well!
One way I contributed was by helping out whenever there was something that needed doing outside of class or homework assignments that needed completing before being turned in at home later on during the day (e.g., cleaning up papers). Another way I contributed towards our common cause was by doing some research into who else might be interested in joining us on this adventure through social media networks like Facebook or Twitter where people could see what kind of challenges were ahead…
How has the division of labor among you been effective?
The division of labor is important for a group project to move forward. If roles are not clearly defined, there can be confusion and frustration in the group. Additionally, if roles are not clearly defined, it could lead to conflict within the team. Finally, if roles aren’t clearly established within your team then you won’t have accountability for each other’s work so nothing gets done on time or at all!
Have you noticed any patterns or themes with regard to communication, (email, text, phone) and if so, how have those patterns supported your collaborative efforts?
Communication is a key component of the collaborative process. Effective communication is essential for any project, but especially so in this case because each team member has their own unique perspective on the task at hand and how it should be completed. As such, it’s important that you are able to communicate effectively with your fellow group members. You may find yourself wondering how you can improve your ability as well – what skills do you need? How can they help?
Did you experience any conflict? If so, how was it resolved? If not, how did your group avoid conflict?
Conflict is inevitable, and it can be a good thing. In fact, conflict is the lifeblood of any collaborative project. It’s important to know how to resolve conflict so that you can move on with your work without letting it derail your progress or frustrate others in the group.
It’s important for each member of the group to understand their role in resolving conflict as well as their responsibilities when dealing with disagreements between themselfs or others outside their team (e., more senior members).
What strategies do you think were used effectively to make sure all ideas were valued and considered?
In your group project, you’ve been working together to create a plan for the project. This week, you will analyze and reflect on the collaborative process.
What strategies do you think were used effectively to make sure all ideas were valued and considered? Asking questions such as “Did everyone have an equal opportunity to contribute?” or “Did each person feel like they were heard?” can help identify ways that could be improved in future collaborations.
What role did leadership play in your collaboration? Was a single leader identified or did that role change over time?
Leadership is critical to the success of a group project. A leader can be defined as someone who has the ability to lead others and set direction for them. Leaders may come from different backgrounds, but they all have one thing in common: They are able to inspire people around them by making them feel good about themselves or their work.
Leadership can change over time and can even be shared by several people (e.g., a team member becomes a speaker during our presentation). Leaders don’t always have control over everything that happens during a collaboration because each participant will bring unique strengths, interests and perspectives into their role as well as challenges that may prevent them from completing tasks effectively on time or at all!

Conclusion
We hope that you enjoyed this week’s lesson. We know how difficult it can be to communicate across cultures and languages, so we want to remind you not only about the importance of communication, but also about the importance of keeping an open mind. In this course, we will teach you how to use your social awareness skills—which are necessary for success in any career—and make those skills even more effective by using them collaboratively!
