Reply to at least two classmate’s posts, applying the RISE Model for Meaningful Feedback

I will also show an example below of how the response needs to be addressed.

Here's an example of how the response should look. Please don't copy it.

The response to the classmate need to be just like this.

Example Response (Response Needs to be writen just like the response below No copying)

RISE Feedback:

REFLECT: I concur with "Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services" because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline's intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.

INQUIRE: Can you further explain what "closing-the-gap action plans" are?

SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline's MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.

ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed "For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying" as "Following Trish Hatch's MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could… citation…"  for a more weighted argument?

Summarize the School Counselor’s Role

A school counselor's role consists of helping students grow to become the best and most successful version of themselves. There is so much more to a counselor than just one job but this is the main goal: to give students the skills and resources to become and stay successful. The main factor that will drive this is to use previous data to understand where there is a gap that needs to be closed so interventions can be implemented. Data will be collected through the details of attendance, discipline, and grades/scores. This will then show where the school is most struggling and where a counselor can support: individual, small group, or classroom meetings. Data drives counselors to help in needed areas and then it shows stakeholders the impact they are making on the students. Beyond interventions, counselors are there to be a resource for the student to understand how to deal with difficult feelings and situations, what ways to go about new experiences, and use that to help them handle their problems on their own in the future when they are able to. Implementing all of these practices will fill whatever gaps in knowledge that they need to fill such as diversity, handling conflict, understanding emotions and how to regulate them, updating the curriculum to fit in with current times, and more.

  • Summarize the School Counselor’s Role.

The school counselor has an essential role in the school setting as it relates to promoting cultural diversity and equity for all students.  In the ASCA article, The School Counselor and Equity for All Students (2018), it states that "school counselors develop and implement a school counseling program promoting equity and access for students." (ASCA, 2018).  Additionally, the ASCA article, The School Counselor and Cultural Diversity (2021), states that "school counselors implement a culturally sustaining school counseling program that creates systematic change through growth, self-awareness, humility, knowledge of worldviews and cultural identities."  A school counselor utilizes data to discover the gaps in achievement and accessibility and advocates for higher education opportunities for students and/or cultures who may be underrepresented.  They also create an environment in which all students feel comfortable to come forward with problems they are facing (ASCA, 2018).   Furthermore, school counselors are aware of and address how poverty, social class, and cultural diversity effect student achievement and collaborate with other stakeholders to create a positive climate of growth and learning for all (ASCA, 2021).
