Go to MIT's Living Wage Calculator website and look up your town/city. Report your findings using the following questions:
- What is the living wage (average cost of living with necessities) for your town/city?
- Look up current job listings in your area. You can also research job listings for your desired profession or use your current position. Would you be able to survive with this job and estimated salary within your area? What other expenses may you encounter that were not listed within the living wage calculator?
- What is the average household income in your area? Is it meeting the living wage amount from the calculator?
- What services are available in your area for low-income families or those living in poverty? Provide at least 2 specific organizations/agencies.
