Tool today I’m going to propose a redesign for is a series of tools used for cleaning and preparation of a surface for treating with plasma prior to bonding.
Currently the process at my facility is to treat by hand with plasma around a complex multi-pin adaptor. The plasma station cannot “bath” the area as it must get around the shoulders of these pins. Furthermore, to ensure proper treatment and cleansing of the area, distilled water is applied as a “break” test to see if the surface is properly treated or not. After treatment an bonding agent is applied to secure the pins in place and a UV wand is utilized to cure the agent. This is all done by hand.
The proposed tool redesign will be replacing the operator with a 5-a is Cobot robot fitted with a rotary stage at the head for a multi tool application.
The robot will be machined in such a way that the outside shall conform to the drawings below, the inner fittings will be designed after servo motors and actuators are selected.
This will effectively reduce touch time by a factor of 15-25 minutes of touch labor by enabling the robot to perform ergonomically straining tasks by eliminating repetitive motion.
