POST 1 JOEL REYES:

1.) Those who advocate term limits anticipate that high rates of re-election for existing members of Congress could harm the performance of Congress and the country as a whole. Proposals for term limits are being advanced because long-serving members of Congress may grow too powerful, which may result in abuse of power and corruption. However, one advantage in having long-serving educated politicians in Congress is that they are proven and useful when developing laws during difficult times such as the COVID-19 pandemic or issues residing in other cities in the country, requiring experienced elected officials. For example, sometimes people stay in Congress for a very long time, and they may become very skilled as legislators. Term limits would mean that nobody spent too much time in Congress, and after every election, there would be a huge class of rookies who wouldn't fully understand the insider tricks needed for effective legislating" (United States Now, Jacob Queen). As such, well-informed members of Congress would be helpful when making decisions that will have broad and lasting effects. Recently, our election cycles here show that many citizens are satisfied with their representation in Congress. One idea for systemic reform could be ranked voting, which makes it possible for voters to rank candidates according to their choices and ensures that winners will get wide backing.

Post 2 STEPHANIE MENDOZA:

It is known that the President is the head figure of our country. And his power like the rest of our governments does rest on the amount of support they receive. Public polls are what connect the people to the government. This allows our voices and opinions to be heard. Flagging Political Support is when it’s basically failing, the political support is weak. If these two declines, they both affect the President because this means the president will not have influence over Congress. An area where this fact will be of little consequence would be public opinion. Public opinion polling should continue, because these polls allow the citizens to get their information and give everyone an equal chance of being heard.

A positive to privatizing functions such as education policy, trash removal, criminal incarcerations, and national defense, are private companies tend to be more organized and efficient. Meaning, they will probably have set times and rules because they want to keep your business. A negative to this would be for the citizens that cannot afford this expense. Currently, you throw your trash away and you probably use to it being picked up weekly at no charge. But with private companies, they run off the money they make, so if you don’t have the money, you wouldn’t be covered. I do think keeping working with private companies and not should both be options. This allows more room for people to decide what they want, instead of it being forced on them.
