The NYPD has been placing more cameras in public to monitor potential problems involving criminal activity. London, England has been doing this for quite some time resulting in a drop in the crime rate of approximately 30%. Private security tapes have been essential along with police cameras in solving crimes. Recently there was a bomb explosion in Manhattan, and another device was found unexploded nearby. Police are reviewing the security camera footage in the areas to try and identify the perpetrators. Many people favor such programs while many feel that this is an infringement of our rights as “big brother is watching”?
