Sasha’s coming to Little Catalysts ELC
Having successfully secured the equipment needed from the Specialist Equipment Library and conducted training with relevant staff to attend to Sasha’ ( She has a rare and severe form of Muscular Dystrophy and uses a wheelchair for mobility) daily needs and routines, you’ve enrolled Sasha into the service. Sasha will start tomorrow.
Prepare your staff
This morning you host a meeting with staff to discuss Sasha’s commencement tomorrow, to ensure that it goes smoothly, and that Cassie, Theo and Sasha feel welcomed into the service.
Develop your team’s inclusive practice.
a. Provide a html link to a video resource on inclusive practice at its best (in an early childhood education and care service) to show your team. The video needs to highlight the benefits of inclusion and demonstrate effective strategies that would support educators in their inclusion practice.
b. Summarise three (3) points you were inspired by in the example you provided and reasons you feel it’s valuable for your team.
During the staff meeting you hosted you asked staff to contribute ideas on how they would prepare the children for Sasha’s arrival . In return, you need to offer your own suggestions on how they could guide children to feel comfortable and confident welcoming Sasha into the service.
c. Provide at least two (2) suggestions you make to staff to prepare children for thinking inclusively toward Sasha.
