SFTY 421 Discussions3.3 – Discussion: Doctor Visit
Have you been to a doctor lately? Have you noticed the rise in tablet or laptop usage by the doctors and nurses? I have noticed some doctors just plop down at a conventional workstation that is already setup in the exam room, others carry a laptop or tablet around and others even have wearable devices strapped to their bodies.
After reviewing the material in this module, think about the last time you saw a computer or electronic data input device in a healthcare setting (doctor’s office or hospital room) and respond to the following prompt:
Give at least three pros and three cons of the workstation or setup you encountered.
You must limit your assessment to how the user (doctor, nurse, healthcare provider) was directly affected, meaning mention any biomechanics issues you saw. Indirect circumstances such as cost or appeal, for instance, are not considered direct.
Respond to at least two other posts after you have posted your initial choice and assessment. You may either elaborate on what your classmates have said or give them additional pros/cons to consider.
