Find and identify three of the rhetorical experiences they mention in their own rhetorical day. In other words, name and explain three rhetorical examples. You may want to first identify if it is an example of ethos, pathos, logos, or kairos, then you will need to name it and offer a very brief explanation how the example fits that specific tool.
I started my day off with my roommate yelling at me to wake up. “Wake up Ashley, your alarm has been going off for 15 minutes.” I closed my eyes and thought to myself “Just a few more minutes.” I knew that she would not leave my room until I got up and would later annoy me until I decided to, so I rose out of bed. I looked at my phone to check my notifications and saw that Nike had sent me a notification about a sale. I showered, listened to some music, and got myself ready for the day. On the bus ride to class, I looked at my other notifications and saw an email from Nike about the sale they were having today. I went onto the app and browsed around as I tried to convince myself that I did not need anything. I showed my roommate on the bus a pair of shoes that I had been looking at, that happened to be on sale. “You don’t need to spend anymore money on clothes”, my roommate had mentioned. I agreed, but let her know that I had been looking at them for a while and they happened to be on sale. I had been needing new sneakers for the gym, and so I was persuaded to buy them. After class, I had decided that it would be a good idea to start on some homework that was due for the week. My boss had texted me asking if I was available for an event that was happening later that day and I contemplated if I wanted to work or continue doing my school work. My school work would not be due until later that night, or further into the week and the extra money would be nice, I thought to myself. I decided to take a look at what the assignments had to be done and about how long it would take to do them. I noticed that my assignments would not take my a long time to do and would not be hard to get done at a later time. I had decided to go to work to make extra cash, especially since I had just bought the shoes that I had wanted. As I type about my “rhetorical day”, I notice how much persuasion is used throughout the day and how it could alter decisions made throughout my day’s events.
