I am confused on how to respond to this discussion in that I need to compare my approach to advocacy to this post. My advocacy for drug policy reform was playing the role of an amender to advance my preferences for change: requiring inpatient substance abuse treatment rather than incarceration. In this position, I have the power to take part in discussions and fundamentally alter the course of policy by changing its specifics
I would consider and point out the situational realities to influence social agencies to help advocate for change (Jansson, 2018). There are many affected by COVID-19 who can’t get the help they need, such as immigrants, those in our nation’s prisons, and low-income people. This is a reality that has precise data to be shown to legislatures. I would then create a team to help set and establish policy goals and choose the best power resources at hand (Jansson, 2018). This would allow us to reach out to more allies and then create specific task groups to accomplish goals (Jansson, 2018). These could be goals to gather more data to present on what needs to change to support those populations most struggling with COVID-19.
