Introduction
Social work is a profession with a strong Christian foundation. This is evident in the values that underpin social work practice and the ethical principles that guide it. It also helps explain why social workers are so important for addressing problems such as poverty, homelessness, addiction and mental illness. In this paper I will discuss how these factors overlap with Christian worldviews and inform our practices as practitioners of social justice in the context of promoting it through our work with individuals or communities at risk or experiencing hardship.
A Christian’s worldview as a basis for social work practice (2 to 3 PAGES)
A Christian’s worldview as a basis for social work practice (2 to 3 PAGES)
Social workers should be using their faith as an influence in their work and ministry. Social workers can use their faith to promote justice, and they can encourage clients to make decisions based on biblical principles. They may also use their values as tools that help them determine how they will respond when working with people who are struggling with issues such as poverty or homelessness.
Problem Statement (1 to 2 PAGES)
What is the problem?
The problem statement should describe the nature and scope of your text. In this case, it would be helpful to include some details about what you are studying and why it is important for social work professionals to understand how Christians view poverty and homelessness. It also helps if you can provide some examples from which others can learn more about these issues in their own communities, whether they are Christian or not.
Theorist / theorist (1 to 2 PAGES)
Carl Rogers
Abraham Maslow
Rollo May
Carl Jung (and his theory of psychological types)
Jean Piaget.
Theoretical Framework (2 to 3 PAGES)
The theoretical framework is a conceptual framework that is used to guide the researcher in making decisions about the research design and methods. It should be based on a review of the literature, or it may be developed from previous studies. Theoretical frameworks can be divided into three categories:
Structural level theories (e.g., Parsons’ theory of social action)
Functional level theories (e.g., Goffman’s theory of interpersonal roles)
Relational level theories (e.g., Goffman’s interpersonal relations)
Intervention Plan (2 to 3 PAGES)
In this section, you will be asked to discuss the ways in which the values of the social work profession overlap with a Christian worldview in the area of promoting social justice.
You will be asked to:
Explain how your intervention plan is based on both your professional knowledge and values as well as those from within your own faith community (or lack thereof).
Outline what type of intervention would be most effective at helping people who live with substance abuse issues, including alcohol and drugs.
Conclusion (1 PAGE)
The author’s conclusion is important because it relates to the problem statement and theoretical framework. The conclusion also relates to the intervention plan, which is a part of our educational approach.
The author states that social work values are not always compatible with those of a Christian worldview. However, when they are, it can be beneficial for both professions if they work together on issues like poverty and homelessness.
Each area must be supported by citations and references. This paper is to be written in APA format. Initial posting should be at least 5 pages and responses are approximately 1 page each.
