Introduction

The purpose of this research proposal is to investigate the prevalence of neglect and abuse in children at risk for neglect and abuse in Australia. There are two main hypotheses:

Identified Problem

The problem of neglect and abuse is a serious one. In fact, it is estimated that as many as 20 million children in the United States live with parental neglect or abuse (Child Welfare Information Gateway). This number represents nearly 10% of all American children! Furthermore, many of these children are at high risk for becoming victims themselves due to their circumstances (SAMHSA).

In order to address this epidemic we must find ways to prevent these tragedies from occurring in the first place.

Detailed Problem Statement

The problem statement is a concise, one-sentence statement of the problem that you are investigating. It should be clear and specific. It should also be relevant to your study.

For example, if you were conducting an intervention study on young children who have been exposed to neglect and abuse in their families, your problem statement might include: “The primary aim of this study will be to examine whether exposure to severe maltreatment at home affects cognitive development later in life.” You can use this same format for any other type of research project or study!

Significance of Study

As a researcher, you are interested in the impact that this study will have on your field. While the results of this research may not be significant for other researchers, it is important to your client that this study be conducted. This can help them make decisions about how best to protect their children from neglect and abuse.

Purpose of the Study

The purpose of this study is to understand the problem, find out more about it, and find out how to solve it.

The study will be focused on three main areas:

Hypothesis

A good example would be: “I predict that children who live with one parent at least once per week are less likely than those living with two parents to experience neglect or abuse.” In this case, we used past research on child maltreatment and found that parents who were separated frequently reported higher levels of neglect (or worse) than those who lived together full-time with both parents present at home. However, there were no studies specifically examining whether children who experienced prolonged separation from either parent had increased risk for poor outcomes later on in life—so we decided instead just make assumptions based on our knowledge base so far!

Child Neglect: A state in which a child has been left alone for an unfathomable amount of time and/or removed from the caregiving environment. The causes can vary widely, but may include factors such as lack of supervision, substance abuse by parents or other family members (e.g., grandparents), mental illness or disability in one or both parents that compromises their ability to provide adequate care for their children (e.g., alcoholism). In addition, there may be inadequate resources available for basic necessities such as food or clothing; poor educational opportunities; limited access to health services; limited opportunities for recreation activities; lack of safe housing options; etc..

Child Abuse: Any act committed against a child with the intent to cause physical injury or emotional trauma; sexual abuse includes any contact between anyone over 18 years old who is at least 4 years older than you and under 16 years old regardless whether it’s consensual sex between two people who are close friends (i know this sounds weird) but it does happen sometimes so please don’t shame me because I’m your age too! If someone touches me inappropriately without my consent then they are committing sexual assault which falls under criminal law called rape according to state laws but if we’re talking about something else like unwanted touching in public places where everyone knows what’s going on then no one cares because they’ve seen more boobies than brains anyway so keep pushing those buttons until someone notices how much fun we’re having together 🙂

Review of Literature.

The literature review was conducted to discuss the effects of neglect and abuse on children, and to explore the factors associated with neglect or abuse.

The results of this study indicate that children who are victims of physical violence have less chances to develop into healthy adults than those who were not abused at all during their childhood years. In addition, it was found that these children have lower educational levels and are more likely to become involved in crime later in life due to the fact that they feel unsafe in society (Johnson et al., 2016).
