Consider how the Axial Age was a period of great thought, philosophy and change across the societies weve looked at. Many people think that we are living in times of great change now. Do you thin

1. Consider how the Axial Age was a period of great thought, philosophy and change across the societies we’ve looked at. Many people think that we are living in times of great change now. Do you think our current age (last 150 years or so) is experiencing another type of Axial age? Make an argument discussing the ways and depths of change in current society (this is open to whatever you want to and can discuss) and compare that to the kind of change during the Axial Age for the societies we studied.

2. Reflect on the epics that we have looked at in this class and how those narratives reflect a culture’s values, beliefs, and understanding of the world. Choose a passage from one of the epics we’ve learned about and discuss what beliefs and worldviews this might be demonstrating. Is the idea you’ve identified something current (and to narrow this question, let’s say American) societies adhere to still or is this something that may have been more reflective of that society and time?

Introduction

The Axial Age was a period of great thought, philosophy and change across the societies we’ve looked at.

Discuss the changes in current society.

What changes were happening during the Axial Age?

What changes were happening during this time period?

How does this relate to your own life?

Compare the changes in these two ages.

What are the similarities?

What are the differences?

How do you think the two ages compare to each other?

Explain how these two age periods are different or similar.

The Axial Age is similar to our current age in that it is a period of great thought, philosophy and change across the societies we’ve looked at.

This can be seen through religion and science. For example, during this time many people were questioning their faith as they began to see that religious texts could not be trusted (see examples of early Christian Gnosticism). These questions were then answered by philosophers such as Plato who said that knowledge comes from God rather than humans themselves; this idea later became known as Thomism after Saint Thomas Aquinas (who wrote about it).

Another way in which these two ages are similar is also through technology: both comprise computers, mobile phones etc., but also cars/automobiles/planes etc., which all date back to ancient times – for example Ancient Egyptians invented wheels!

Explain in one sentence what you’ve decided about whether we’re in another Axial age or not.

Explain in one sentence what you’ve decided about whether we’re in another Axial age or not.

What do you think? Why do you think so?

Is there a difference between these two ages, and if so, how has it affected our current society and culture?

How will this affect our future as a whole (in terms of technology, population growth etc.)

Conclusion

In conclusion, we can say that there is a great deal of similarities between the two ages. In particular, both of these periods were marked by enormous changes in society and the way people perceive themselves. These changes have done much to shape how we live today as individuals and as members of society at large.
