Introduction
I have been in the workplace for a long time, and over the years I have seen firsthand how people with disabilities can be excluded from employment. In fact, many of my coworkers are people with disabilities who have been discriminated against or treated poorly at work because they don’t fit into society’s idea of what “normal” is. As an employee advocate, I’ve witnessed firsthand how discrimination occurs when employers don’t hire someone based on their abilities rather than their appearance or past experiences (such as military service).
It’s important that we all stand up against this kind of behavior by speaking out against it whenever we see it happening—whether it be in your own company or elsewhere in society!
Mentoring a younger person
Mentoring is a great way to help someone. It can be done in person or over the phone, and it doesn’t have to be limited to one-on-one conversations.
Mentoring allows you to share your knowledge and experience with someone else, whether they’re younger than you or older than you (or both). You may even find that mentoring makes them more confident about their own abilities as well!
I got the chance to mentor an employee with depression and anxiety.
As a mentor, I got the chance to mentor an employee with depression and anxiety. I was able to relate to him because we both had similar experiences in our childhoods. He told me about how he used to cry at home alone while his parents were away on vacation or other trips, but they never knew it happened because he would hide his face behind pillows and blankets so no one could see what was going on inside of him. As a result of that experience, he developed anxiety around social situations where people might judge him negatively based off these feelings of shame and embarrassment (which led back into feeling like an outcast).
It was difficult for me as well; I often felt like an outsider during high school because some classmates didn’t understand why I didn’t fit in either socially or academically—even though we all came from similar backgrounds! It took me many years before I realized that my own feelings weren’t unique: most people have experienced similar struggles at some point in their lives–and especially when growing up as minorities does not make things easier either! If anything else is needed beyond support from friends/family members who know about these issues firsthand then there are many resources available online through organizations like Depression Alliance International-USA which provides education materials including videos explaining common symptoms associated with depression (like crying uncontrollably) along side tips on how best manage such symptoms under different circumstances
Supporting an Employee who has been undocumented in the United States
You have supported an employee who has been undocumented in the United States.
You helped him get his Social Security card.
You helped him get a job.
You helped him get a driver’s license and car (if needed).
You also assisted with getting bank accounts opened for financial transactions and other benefits of working legally in America
I felt that I could relate to my coworkers, and we all worked together better because of it.
Inclusion is a very personal thing. The first time I experienced it, I felt that I could relate to my coworkers and we all worked together better because of it. My coworkers were more understanding of me and my family situation. They were able to share their own experiences with me so that we could connect on an emotional level as well as a professional one. This went beyond just knowing what you are doing at work; it allowed us all to grow together as individuals while still working towards our common goal: improving the lives of others!
Conclusion
There are many ways of looking at inclusion. One person might think that it’s important to include people with disabilities in the workforce, while another person may see this as a way to reduce discrimination against them. But what most people don’t realize is that inclusion can lead to better productivity and better employee satisfaction as well. If you don’t believe this yourself, then why not try it out?
